Every now and then, you deserve a treat – especially when you are training hard in your running. You can’t eat a 100% “perfect” or “healthy” diet – nor should you. Treating yourself, whether it is to desert or a glass of wine, provides mental and physical benefits.
That said, especially when you are training for a race and focusing on high-quality nutrition, you don’t want to negate all of your hard work by indulging every day. These healthy treats compromise between the indulgent taste of desserts and sweets without being too rich, especially when you are preparing for a goal race and saving those truly decadent foods as a post-race indulgence.

Fudgy chocolate beer cake?! YES PLEASE. Have fun this weekend!
I love that so many of these recipes have chocolate in them. 🙂
I really enjoy some kind of dessert most nights, but I find healthier versions much more satisfying. Anything with too much sugar leaves me feeling gross!
All of these look so good! I’ve been wanting to make some muffins/cookies for snacks this week, soooo thank you!
Yum!!! I pinned this and can’t wait to try some of these. I always need a sweet treat after dinner. My fav healthier dessert to make at home are caramel chocolate balls that are paleo. In a food processor you mix about 10 ounces of medjool dates, a scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1-2 tablespoons of almond butter and a half cup of unsweetened coconut. Roll into balls, refrigerate and try not to eat too many in one sitting! They kind of taste like Girl Scout Samoas. xoxo
Thank you! Yummm those caramel chocolate balls sound good – I love how dates and almonds can make a good sweet treat!
