As much as I cherish reading a great book, every week I find thought-provoking and useful articles online. Here are some reads I enjoyed this week!
My Five Post-Run Stretches from Hungry Runner Girl: It is so important to stretch after a run, but so easy to skip it! Janae always gives excellent running advice and this is no exception – these are great stretches, especially for the glutes, quads, hamstrings, and IT band, and the routine only takes a few minutes.
3 Things to Do the Day Before Your Next 20-Mile Marathon Training Run from Race Pace Jess: This is very practical advice on how to improve your long runs (and can apply to any training distance) by focusing on nutrition, sleep, and visualization.
Forbes’ take on the celebrity photo theft from Forbes: “We focus on the supply-side, with an emphasis on the things that women must do to ‘stay safe’ instead of focusing on lessening mens’ ‘demand’ to view women as purely a disposable commodity… Instead of condemning those who would steal the private photographs and publish them online for all to see, we condemn or belittle the women who chose to create said private photographs in the first place.”
Vanilla Yeasted Waffles with Roasted Peach Maple Syrup from How Sweet It Is: Perfect breakfast recipe before peach season ends. Even then, I might use a different fruit – yeasted waffles are so yummy!
Seriously Delish by Jessica Merchant at How Sweet It Is: I am so, so, so excited for this cookbook! Ryan got it for me for my birthday and I already made a brownie recipe from it. Sooo many yummy meals will come from this!
I Run This Body T-shirt: Dorothy Beal over at Mile Posts makes these awesome shirts. I know these have been popular for a while now, but I just found out about them. I want one!
Hammer Nutrition Gels: Last week on my ten mile run I tried gels for the first time. Previously I had just been using raisins, but I need electrolytes and more carbs as I get into longer distances at higher intensities. These gels were easy to consume while running and tasted pretty good – I had the raspberry flavor.
Pug in a Ball Pit: I want to get one of these for Charlie. Too cute!!!
Finally, my favorite picture of Charlie from this week:
