Holiday Gift Guide for Runners (Just Run)

Holiday Gifts for Runners (Just Run)

In anticipation of Christmas, this month’s Just Run round-up features our holiday gift lists for the runner in your life.

I love being able to use a gift the moment I receive it. This is especially true with any running related gifts. That sentiment inspired this year’s holiday gift guide, which features gifts that the runner in your life can use immediately – gear and clothing for the coldest, snowiest months of the year. These gifts are perfect for the runner in your life who loves snow, cold, and all things winter. Most of them can be used year-round also!

Atlas Run Snowshoe

The right gear can transform your attitude toward winter running – especially gear that changes snowy days from treadmill days to outdoor days. If the runner you are shopping for relishes those snowy runs, consider a pair of running snowshoes for her. There are several options on the market – this Atlas Run Snowshoe is a good starter running snowshoe that’s perfect for snowy runs or snowshoe walks for cross-training.

Buff Merino Balaclava or Lightweight Buff

Merino is the absolute best fabric for winter running and Buff is one of the best brands for winter running accessories. Both Ryan and I received merino wool Buffs last year and wore them on almost every single winter run, ski, and snowshoe since then. This Buff Merino balaclava gives the gift of warmth and no frostbite.

Ultimate Direction Hydration Vest

Give your runner the gift of hydration this year. Hydration vests are functional in every season of the year. In winter, they double as a means for carrying hydration and a pack for stashing layers as you warm up. Ultimate Direction offers several variations of the hydration vest; I like the Ultra Vesta 4.0, which comes with two bottles. It works well for running, hiking, and any other outdoor activity!

Trigger Pin Vector Roller

Running on snow and ice works those small stabilizing muscles and sometimes those basic foam rollers don’t do the trick. This TPin Vector Roller is contoured so that it functions both as a foam roller and a lax ball, massaging and releasing even small muscles. This roller eliminates the need for a closet full of various self-release tools.

Rep Fitness Kettlebells

When conditions are too severe to run outdoors, kettlebells provide a solid conditioning workout indoors. My absolute favorite kettlebells are made by Rep Fitness. These kettlebells feature a solid grip even with sweaty hands. They are reasonably priced and ideal for a home gym.

Darn Tough Vermont Socks

Socks make the perfect stocking stuffers for runners. While more expensive than your average pair of socks, these Darn Tough merino wool socks are durable (I have some pairs going on 2+ years of use!). Darn Tough keeps your feet warm in winter and dry in summer. The height on these socks is just high enough to protect your ankles from snow and cold.

A Running Themed Mug

One of the keys to surviving winter is mastering the fine art of hygge (coziness). After a chilly weekend run, few things are cozier than curling up under blankets with a warm beverage. Sarah Marie Design Studio sells several cute running themed mugs, including this adorable “Trails and Tails” mug for every runner whose RBF has four legs.
