Must-Have Spring Running Gear

After this bitterly cold and icy winter when the snow never seemed to stop falling, many runners, including myself, are more than ready for spring. Like serious, it’s been weeks since I’ve done my long run outside, thanks to sub-zero wind chills and ice everywhere. It’s finally March, which means spring racing season is right around the corner!

What better way to celebrate spring than with some new spring running clothes? After months of running in fleece-lined tights, long sleeve shirts, jackets, and gloves, nothing sounds more appealing than shorts and tanks!

Here are some of my favorites for must-have spring running gear for women and men!

(Also, happy birthday to my sister, Anna!)

Women

Oiselle Women’s Distance Shorts

I love shorts with pockets, especially for long runs and races so I can stuff my keys and gels in there. These shorts have 3 pockets and come in a variety of cute colors! I’m always a fan of plain black, but the pink is oh-so-cute and springy! I’m obsessed. Oiselle Distance Shorts

Victoria’s Secret Incredible Sports Bra

Victoria’s Secret honestly makes great sports bras. I’ve worn their sports bras for about two years now and never have problems with chafing or discomfort. Plus these bras last forever—my older ones still look and feel like new!

Brooks Pure Flow 4

I currently wear and love the Brooks Pure Flow 3, and I’m excited about their update on the shoe for this year! Also, the new colors are just perfect for spring! My entire running wardrobe is either pink, blue, or black, so I love the pink & blue color combo.

Oiselle Women’s Lux Arm Warmers, Heather Sky, One Size

Spring races pose that awkward temperature between wearing a tank and being cold or wearing a long-sleeve shirt and overheating. These arm warmers and both functional and fashionable! Plus they have thumbholes, and we all know how awesome thumbholes are.

Under Armour Women’s UA ArmourVent™ Long Sleeve
I have one of these shirts (or at least one very similar), and it is amazing. It works great as a base layer for those chilly early spring mornings and then transitions well into a lightweight wicking top for warmer spring runs.

Men

PRO Compression Marathon Socks

These Pro Compression socks are a great pick for both men and women! Compression socks are great for recovery after hard workouts and races, especially if you’re traveling right after a race.

 Champion Duofold Quarter-Zip Fleece Jacket

Ryan has a bunch of Champion running shirts and jackets and loves them! This Champion quarter-zip jacket is great for working out or just wearing on the weekend. It’s warm enough for those chilly spring mornings but can easily transition as the temperature rises.

Brooks Cascadia 10 Trail Running Shoe

These shoes are perfect for the man who enjoys trail running, disc golfing, hiking, or other rugged outdoor sports! The sole provides traction on rough surfaces and just the right amount of support for your feet.

  1. You included some of my favorite brands (and Im pretty sure my husband has that mens’ shirt!) I am excited to try the pure flow 4s but I need to wait until they go on sale. Once I find the pure flows or pure cadences on sale I stock up, so right now I have a couple extra pairs and since Im not running alot right now they will last awhile:) I love Oiselle too!

  2. I’m a huge fan of Brooks running shoes but have yet to try out any of the Pure ones. I’m also a neutral pronator and I currently train in Glycerins, but I’d like to try out Ghosts or the PureFlows sometime. I’m in the market for trail running shoes so I’m eyeing the Cascadias or PureGrits.

I’m hoping to stock up on a couple of new tank tops and tees for warmer weather running. I’m a big fan of Athleta’s Fast Track line of tops and you can usually find them on sale at least once a month, which is nice!
