Hello, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I took a few days off from this blog to enjoy Christmas with my family. Ryan, Charlie, and I hit the road this week to visit my family in Saint Louis and take an enjoyable break off of work. Charlie absolutely loves it when we visit my family because he has three doggie friends to play with! Meanwhile, we love getting to visit family and spend time around Saint Louis!
On Christmas Eve we went to vigil church after enjoying a delicious prime rib with mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, and my mom’s lightened-up Waldorf salad at home. I took some photos of the meal to share with you later this week, along with a recipe!
On Christmas morning we were all up early to open gifts! My parents are way too kind and generous so we got a lot of great gifts this year, including a pair of Brooks Running PureFlow shoes for me! I’m super excited to try them out.
Charlie and my parents’ dogs love Christmas!
Charlie got an awesome dog bed with a matching blanket for Christmas. Such a snuggly puggle!
We spent the rest of the week going around Saint Louis with my family and seeing the sights. Charlie loves car rides out to the country to see Anna’s horse, but he’s not too much a fan (read: he’s terrified) of horses.
Ryan, Anna, and I went to see the Brewery Lights at Anheuser-Busch. I’d never been to these before, despite growing up in Saint Louis, and they were definitely worth seeing! So many pretty lights!
Yesterday was Charlie’s 2nd birthday! We celebrated by making him a waffle—what a spoiled puggle! We love our puppy baby so much.
I did not log many miles this week because of Christmas. I took Christmas Day off to spend time with family and the day after Christmas off as well. I only ran a total of 17 miles this week, but that’s still better than nothing!
Monday: 5.5 miles total: 4.5 miles on my own at an easy 8:29/mile pace, and then 1 untimed mile with Charlie.
Tuesday: 7 miles on the treadmill with three miles at tempo pace (7:45/mile).
Wednesday: 3 miles with Ryan, which included some sprint intervals around 6:00-6:30/mile pace.
Thursday: Off
Friday: Off
Saturday: 1.5 miles with Ryan—we were going to do 3 miles but it started sleeting partway through our run and we were not dressed for sleet!
